Family planning after giving birth

I have yet to give birth to my first born and im just curious. How did you family plan after birth ? If you do not wish to get pregnant in a year or two. Other than taking birth control, as im scared the side effect is very bad. Is there any other way ? And does pulling out works ? #FTM #advicepls

If it helps, I closed my legs from third trimester till baby is 15mo. After that used condom. I had plans for second baby but I want it to be a year end baby (as firstborn is also a year end baby), so till then, we use condoms. No pullouts as I don’t wish to risk.
