contractions

I have contractions yesterday at 4pm & 1am. They were frequent and the intervals are short especially at 1am. The contractions makes me feel like i want to poop or have a bad stomachache. Sorry if TMI, and so i did everytime i have the contractions,i will go to the toilet to poop. Even after i poop i will still have contractions, i try to relax and calm myself.. and after a while the contractions are gone. Is it normal? I dont want to end up going to the hospital and find out that its false labour. Secondly, after the 4pm contractions bits of my mucus plug fall off(bits have been coming out since 3days ago). I did call the hospital to ask for an advise and they said to come if i have contractions again. But what if my contractions stops?
