what position do newborn sleep on

I have been letting my 3 week newborn sleep on his side. then i realise it is not recommended, what do i do? Will anything happen? And what position shud a newborn sleep safely? Back or stomach?

Back . Dont let him sleep on stomach . No need pillow also actually for newborn . No lose swaddle . Keep the cot/bassinet clear of anything .
