Every baby reacts differently when they leave the safety and security of their mother's womb. Some are usually calm, while other express their feelings the best way they can, by crying. Most of it is based on feelings. After nine months of a safe and cushioned world, this new world is different and exciting. You’ll likely hear her cry and cough because she may find too much pressure on her chest. Once her entire body is delivered, and there is no pressure anymore, you’ll hear her automatically clearing the fluid from her mouth. This is her first breath. This will be followed by cutting of her umbilical cord and her breathing, digestion and circulation will now have become independent. Don’t worry, your baby has no nerves in the umbilical cord, so she won’t feel a thing. Most healthy babies come out roaring and only need a little bit of help to breath. Your midwife may clean your baby with a towel and stimulate further breathing. Remember, if your baby is born through a c-section, she will still have the same feelings and might have a little trouble breathing, but that is temporary. It is also common for the baby to feel a bit bruised and swollen after the pressure from your contractions, so don't be alarmed if she falls into a deep sleep to recover. The best way to help her feeling safe is to keep her close, and warm. Your soothing voice will also help calm her nerves and skin-to-skin is the best solution to make her feel as safe as she did before. All of this is just temporary and your love and physical warmth can surely make her feel secure again.

We wouldn't know unless we were your baby. I would imagine that newly born babies feel frightened because they were snug in a warm sac for 9 months before they were delivered into a bright, cold (delivery suite?) room. http://www.babycentre.co.uk/a1043124/how-your-baby-might-feel-after-the-birth

After spending a long time in your womb she getting ready to discover her new world. Baby will react and adapt to their new surroundings in a different way by taking in all the unfamiliar sounds and sensations calmly and quietly or she may make their feelings by crying energetically.

I would guess a baby will be: tired: having to adapt to breathing on his/her own for the very first time scared: a sudden drastic change in environment fascinated: by the new sounds, smells, movements and activity happening all around him/her

I believe there will be lot of tiredness and at the same time ,they might be overwhelmed as well because they see a whole new different world altogether.
