How old is your lo? It also depends on your lo. Sometimes they can self soothe earlier whilst others may take a longer period.

you can try self settling by patting them first. once they are able to settle back into sleep by patting, you can slowly incorporate a item for sleep. for me, whenever my lo start to stir, i will give him a bolster, he will hug it and fall back to sleep on his own
