At this age, your baby is still being introduced to solids, so your baby's diet will still mostly comprise of breast/formula milk. Personally, I would introduce real food first before cerelac. Cerelac is easy to make, especially if you're a busy mum on the go, but if you can, introduce steamed veggies to your bub. In fact, nutritionists say to give babies a good mix of veggies, fruits and grains/cereals/pulses like oats, moong dal and rava/sooji. Baby will eat around 2-3 teaspoons per feeding - but like I said, the diet at this age will still mostly be milk. Has anyone told you about the 7-day rule? Introduce one type of food to your baby for 3-7 days - this way you can find out whether your baby is allergic to that specific food. Also, have you heard about baby led weaning? It's a way of introducing food to baby by letting them feed themselves. But baby has to have a good pincer grip since utensils are a no-no. Baby should be able to hold the food, feel the texture, play with it even, and bring it to their mouth. This way they develop a positive relationship with food and become adventurous eaters as they get older. If you want to read up more on it, I recommend this article: https://www.theindusparent.com/baby-led-weaning-let-baby-feed For basic guide on introducing solids, the website also has this article: https://www.theindusparent.com/weaning-foods And! Hi. It's enough if you feed twice in a day. But my suggestion is -instead of going for packed baby foods try natural recipes like 1. Dry roast phool makhana seeds.and grind it into a fine powder, you can add hot water to it -this is a kind of instant cerlac and natural one, your baby can get more calcium through this. Try another recipe - soak moong dal for 1 hour, cook it, later mash it and give it to your baby or you can take red millet (ragi) flour and prepare a porridge by adding water and little pinch of salt to it. 'Ragi' is rich in calcium, fiber. another suggestion -don't give solid foods continuously. when she woke up give her milk, followed by breakfast(easily digestable one -idli with ghee or pooha or upma or dosa), then give her some finger foods like boiled and mashed apple, carrot etc.. and then lunch. after lunch give some cerlac then supper . Make sure you maintain 2 to 3 hours gap for each food
Hi, You can give cerelac may be twice a day. In the morning and may be as a porridge in the evening. I wonder why do you have to give cerelac to your baby if your baby is at home all day. You can rather feed her all homemade food. Since he must be slowly getting introduced to solids, so why not introduce him to khichdi, porridge, dal, etc., than getting packed things.
