How long does a new mum have lochia for?

Lochia - the brownish discharge will last for a few weeks. Some women who have a c-sec are shocked by the amount of vaginal discharge they will have. Even though the placenta is removed during the op, the uterus still needs to heal and discharge is part of that process.
