How do you deal with mil that is overly protective to your baby or children?

What I did is I explain to her after a few time she don't want to listen and being stubborn I just ignore and walk off with baby whenever she start. I've explained to my husband. If I talk back I'm rude and might be very offensive so I just keep quiet walk off to avoid argument.
