hi mums, I am now 28 weeks pregnant and have to start looking for a full time helper. What should be on my checklist?

1. Experience: has she worked with little babies/new borns before (get the reference from the previous employer if you can) 2. Temperament: I interviewed my helper thrice before deciding on her. I wanted to be sure I would be leaving my baby with someone who was pleasant, happy and kind. 3. No smoking. Make it clear it will not be tolerated. 4. I also requested no strong perfumes etc to be worn near the baby. 5. Clear conversation about what skills she has. Don't be general, be specific. Don't ask can you cook: ask her can you cook this and let her talk you through the process of how she does it. 6. Set clear expectations....for both.

In Singapore, check out this government website. I has pretty much everything you need to know. As part of getting a work permit for your helper, you will have to do a training program and test, both of which also help you to create a personal checklist of things you need. http://www.mom.gov.sg/passes-and-permits/work-permit-for-foreign-domestic-worker
