Do mosquito patches really work? Or do I need to supplement with repellant?

My mummy friends swear by mosquito patches. The smell is quite strong even from a distance away. They say their babies don't get bitten when using the patches, although I would still cover my baby in long sleeved clothing. I feel that mosquito patches are more than enough.
