Sigh.. there are just people out there who are not aware of the challenges of bringing up a child.. and that such leave exists because there is a need for it. I would say just smile it off and not let them affect you. There's only so much explaining you can do. For some people (sad to say), your explanation will be deemed as you trying to justify your leave.. so.. just smile it off. I would say, explain to the people who really matter (such as your immediate colleagues and bosses) if they seemed to have that impression. For everyone else who think that way, just have to wait till they get their turn to understand.

what i said to them, it's like this when u have kids. lol don't let their comments affect u..we all know where u are coming from and parental duties is inevitable and the most fulfilling i would say. i always tell my colleagues, if i don't have any leave left, i will take no-pay leave because nothing is more important than my kids

Indeed..my upper mgt unmarried ask me why my son keep falling sick when he was from infant to abt three yrs old.she cant stand me taking child care sick leave..she sounded as if i plan n curse my own son to be sick..so insensitive n no emotional quotient

People who are not in our shoes will never understand. Need not let them affect us or explain further. As long as your superior is understanding, it's good enough

Agreed with you that just smile and no need to explain further the woes of parenthood. They will understand once they become a parent themselves.
