baby sucking thumb

DD is 1 month old and starts to suck thumb. Should I let her be or introduce pacifier? Is it necessary to introduce pacifier for babies?

I think only need pacifier if baby cannot self sooth or is very fussy and there's no other way to calm down. Definitely not necessary, it's just a tool to calm baby down, plus weaning the pacifier could be challenging.
