You’re not petty, ppl need to understand that the parents of the baby are in charge! My mom who takes care of my baby will always check if she’s allow to do certain things, even to feed my baby earlier than schedule. That’s called respect! And besides, what if baby has a bad reaction towards the food or anything else that goes near the lip? You do what needs to be done.

YOUR baby - YOUR rules. i hate older people who likes to just smudge things on my baby's lips too. if you can't bring yourself to confront, pls pls get your husband to do it. i personally find it disrespectful to handle someone's baby anyhow. even when the public aunties touches my baby i will give them a glare or show i'm unhappy thru my body language and they know.
Its tough because they are older and they are more experience and they feel like their kids are alive today no matter what they do. They even feed rice to their kids when they are baby thinking they are still hungyy try due to stomach rumbling. Thats why when we voice out. It strikes unhappiness.
totally understand and i myself wonder to myself about the petty-ness too. and others will always say just let it go.. but its tough like even aft 19 months, i still struggle w building a rs w my in laws
she's your husband's mama, not your mama. Get him to talk to her.
