I can hear how draining this is, especially when things work with the consultant but fall apart once she leaves. The gassiness could actually be part of why your baby's resisting the breast since wind makes feeding really uncomfortable for them, so it might be worth checking with your PD or a paediatrician to rule out anything like tongue tie or reflux that the consultant may have missed. On the timeline, every baby settles into feeding differently, but the tension you're picking up on is real and babies do feed better when you're calmer, so honestly if bottle feeding takes the stress off for now, that's okay too. Some mums find that once baby's gas settles and they're less panicky, trying again becomes easier, but there's no set timeframe. What matters most right now is that your baby's fed and you're not burning out.
