Cot bumper

Baby is 5 months and cn flip from only back to tummy. He keeps knocking his head against the cot but many says cot bumper will suffocate baby. Can cot bumper still be used?

I used a cot bumper. Just need to ensure it’s secure and there’s no other pillows around
