Tired Mom

Hi, my 6mths old LO cries before every nap/bed time. He doesn't know how to self soothe and I have to rock or nurse him to calm him down and sleep. It takes about 30mins or longer each time Is that normal? Is there any ways improve his sleeping habit? Thank you
