Cough with phleghm

My 5 month old baby is coughing with phleghm for the past few days. Went to the doctor. He said his lungs are clear. No fever. Was told to simply monitor him. Anybody’s baby with similar condition? How Long does it take before going away?

Did doctor give you meds?

He did not. Doctors don’t prescribe cough meds to children below 2 years old. He said that it will go away on its own but must still monitor. I tried giving him more milk but he couldn’t drink so much. I’m guessing his throat doesn’t feel good to swallow fluids.
