Early labour

Hi 2nd time mom here but having a natural labour this time. How long were you moms having painful braxton hicks going into early labour/in early labour for?

It really varies from mum to mum! With my second, I know some mums who had painful Braxton Hicks and early labour signs for just a few hours before things ramped up, while others had them on and off for days (sometimes even weeks 😅). One thing that helped me understand what was happening: Braxton Hicks are usually irregular and don't get progressively stronger or closer together. True early labour contractions tend to become more regular, longer, stronger, and closer together over time. If you're timing them and noticing a clear pattern developing, or if your waters break, baby’s movements decrease, or you're having any concerns, it's worth giving your maternity unit a call. Hope baby isn't keeping you waiting too much! 😊💕
