Large Baby, High BMI & Gestational Diabetes – Should I Choose Induction or C-Section?
I am currently 36 weeks pregnant. My baby's estimated weight is 3.75 kg, and the doctor expects the baby to gain another 200 g over the next week. The baby is head-down, but the head size is on the larger side. I am 25 years old, weigh 97 kg (high BMI), and have gestational diabetes. My first baby was delivered normally and weighed 3.25 kg. My doctor has recommended induction of labour at 37 weeks. They will try for about a day, and if labour does not progress or there are any concerns, they will proceed with a Caesarean section. My question is: Would attempting induction first be the better option in my case, or would it be safer to have a planned Caesarean section from the beginning? Thank you in advance for your advice.
