Induce at week 39?

Hi fellow mommies, I am a sub patient at KKH currently week 37+2, and will be going for weekly checkups starting from this Tuesday. Doctor has asked me to consider about inducing at week 39 on my check up two weeks ago. Is this common? Even though everything is all good in my pregnancy? Personally I do not mind inducing earlier at week 39. But am wondering, what are the pros and cons if any. I will like to go for a natural birth too. Will inducing increase or decrease chances of a natural birth?

I’m currently getting induced. I don’t like this at all. Wish I waited abit longer. I suggest you wait.

OGTT in KKH (Subsidised) Process

Hi, Will like to check how will the procedures / process be for an OGTT test in KKH as a subsidised. Will then be any chance can see ultrasound of baby that day? Thanks.

It will just be OGTT with seeing doctor for consultation otherwise just OGTT. They will let you know for any upcoming appt if needed for ultrasound. Usually, 1st tri x 1 appt, 2nd tri x 1 appt, 3rd tri x 1 appt. OGTT will require you to fast. After 8pm no food/no drink except plain water. You will get your morning slot as early as the Clinic C open up. Afterwhich, 1hr apart of blood taking. Then, after last blood taking then you can consume food. If you vomit or eat during this OGTT, you will be required to come back.

Cold/ Flu during Week 22

Hi mommies, I have gotten the flu / cold bug last week and am recovering. Have seen the GP for prescribed medicines (which I only took once on the day I had seen the GP) for flu and and throat. May I know if any one experience this before as getting sick is probably quite common. My next visit to KKH is in about 2.5 weeks away. Will all be fine since I am recovering? #worriedfirsttimemom

It should be all fine if you have been taking medicine as prescribe. Hydrate more. I took the flu vaccine on first tri and another vaccine at third tri. This is to prevent from falling sick often despite all the flu bug, cough, whatever virus going around. Most importantly mummy and baby is fine and need not visit hospital/clinic often.

Rashes on Belly and Breasts area

Hi Mommies, I have tried to google about this and noted that it may be common for some women and may appear anytime in any stages of pregnancy. Am currently entering 16 weeks of my pregnancy and 1 - 2 weeks ago, I have had red bumps on my breasts and belly area (also the areas where I apply stretch mark cream e.g. mustela and mama's choice brands) Next appointment is coming Monday, will ask KKH doctor (I am on subsidized route and therefore won't have a fixed doctor). Any mommies out there also experienced this? For now I have stopped applying the stretch mark creams and instead been showering twice a day and use Suu Balm Body Wash and Moisturizer for relief. Hope that it won't spread to other areas :P #Worried #Paranoid #FirstTimeMom

Rashes on Belly and Breasts area

It might be rashes/eczema/dry skin that can occur during pregnancy. I am a subsidy patience too with KKH. When meeting up with doctor let them know and if they can prescribe QV moisturiser. If they prescribe you together with steroid, do not use it. I have severe dry skin with eczema for second pregnancy and now skin is getting alot better.
