How good the recent news hold that bread contains cancer causing elements? My kid loves bread. Does the news hold any relevance? Can one make bread at home?

According to the latest report by the Centre of Science and Environment, bread based food products in India contain cancer causing elements (potassium bromate or potassium iodate) banned by several countries. You can easily make bread at home. Here is the recipe for the bread: Ingredients (measuring cup used, 1 cup = 250 ml): ◦3 cups all purpose flour/maida ◦1 cup water ◦½ tbsp dry yeast ◦2 tbsp sugar ◦1.5 tbsp vegetable oil. i used olive oil. but you can add sunflower oil or even melted butter. ◦1 tsp salt if you want to add milk to the bread, then substitute the 1 cup water mentioned above with: ◦¼ cup warm water ◦¾ cup milk Method: 1.warm the water. dissolve sugar in the water. sprinkle the yeast and stir. 2.keep aside for 10 minutes or till the yeast bubbles up and froths. 3.while the proofing is happening, seive the flour with salt. 4.add the oil to the flour. now add the frothy yeast. 5.with a wooden spoon mix everything. the dough will be sticky. 6.now use your hands and knead the dough. 7.the dough has to be smooth and light. 8.grease the dough with oil. 9.keep in a large bowl and cover loosely with kitchen napkin. 10.keep aside for 11/2 or 2 hours until the dough doubles up. 11.if it requires keep aside for some some more minutes. 12.take the dough on a lightly floured surface. this naturally deflates the dough. 13.now shape the loaf and place it in a greased pan. 14.cover again loosely with the kitchen napkin and let it rise again for about 45 minutes till it fully doubled up. 15.preheat the oven to 190 degrees C and bake for 40-45 mins till you get a golden brown bread. I have a 5 year old. We also have a 17 month old baby. I see my peers n they seem to have it easier. Their 5 year old is so well behaved, listens to instructions. Mine is always running around n even worse when he is with my in laws. How do I displine him? Usually I just tell him he's wrong. My husband is pretty hands off and doesn't displine or say much . He's created so much chaos! Pulling curtains, jumping on sofas etc! Help!!

Spare the rod and spoil the child. Your call and decision whether to discipline your boy. However, when he starts to understand the cause of his actions, you can stop.

Hi fellow parents, I was wondering if you've ever witnessed a parent harshly yelling at their kid in public? Did you interfere? I was recently in a mall and saw a mom reprimanding her son, but NOT constructively. I wanted to say something but didn't...did I do the right thing?

I guess it's our social responsibility to respond to an outright abuse against other people, most especially if the person is as helpless as a kid. I haven't experienced it, though I see lots of videos of it through Facebook.

If you have multiple kids and stay in a simple 4room HDB, how would you share their rooms? I happen to have 3 girls.

im for me . in a 4 Room HDB . i will arrange all my 3 gals in 1 room. they can have a chat before sleep a good bonding time too.

has anybody had an aggressive son? how did you control? do I mellow down my 4 yr old? he gets aggressive quickly and now and then says " i will hit you". i know, i am to be blamed partially cos to stop his aggression i used to slap him. that was to scare him and to stop hitting. he likes kids but does not like them to take initiative for friendship. he opens up very slowly with new people or kids. prefers older kids. i give up. i think i am the only mother with such problem. all other kids his age are not aggressive and their parents make faces.

I Guess as a dad I'll stop as Long as she can bathe on her own... If not, how to learn independence?

This morning my youngest son keep on screaming and shouting! So hyper wahhh!!! What would i do to make him behave ?

The best thing to do is tell yourself "this, too, shall pass." LOL. Your kid, especially if a toddler, may have just recently discovered his capability of raising his voice. For your kid, it may have been fun, or may have been a way to get whatever he wants. I suggest you try to stay calm and never let it get the best of you.
