What is your favorite childhood memory?

Probably a cliched answer but not paying bills. Such good times. I used to ask my mom why she got letters in the mail and I never did. Hahaha. Now I wish otherwise.

Hi... Would like to get some advice pls. I work in a retail company that ends quite late at night. I work shift hours, have been here for more than 5 years, currently pregnant and unable to perform actively as I am not so stable at times. Before being pregnant, I was channeled for a career advancement to become a manager. However, when the new HOD took over, and when I got pregnant, things doesn't seem to work out as planned and I hear talks that I should apply for a lateral movement instead because the new HOD has plans to bring in other people. I do not know if I should continue or just look for a new job in a different company. I somehow feel confuse and slightly cheated. I would love to continue still. My second question pondering in my mind is that will it be a good decision if I were to move to a new company and maybe take up office hours job since I am having my baby soon - more balanced lifestyle, can spend quality time with family, etc. I am just so lost and these issues are bugging me.

How about having a chat with your HOD to find out his/her plans for you instead? Frankly, I feel that it may not be easy for you to switch jobs now and it may end up becoming a potential stressor for you if you are unable to find a suitable one. Hence, you can explore what the lateral transfer would be for you. Perhaps there will be a position with more regular hours which would be good for you as well. Take care mummy. What are your greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses as a parent?

I see myself as a very independent, tolerant and adaptable person and I think that this will translate well into being a parent. Having lived away in another continent without my immediate family support has made me a stronger person and I know this will count towards being a mother. That being said, my independence and strength are my weaknesses too. I'm so used to being on my own, I forget that I can ask for help, that I have loved ones who will do anything for me. When I become a parent, asking for help from loved ones should be second nature and there isn't any shame in it -- which is something I should remember.

How do you know when you're 'ready' to be a parent; what are the socio-emotional matters to consider?

I've came across this article which highlighted some important points to consider when deciding if it's the "right" time: http://psychcentral.com/lib/what-you-need-to-consider-before-having-kids/ Personally, I feel that it is important that both parties are ready and are "on the same page" before making any family planning decisions. Also, like what the article has mentioned, it is important to ask yourself "why you want to have a child". I feel that this will give valuable insights as to whether or not your are indeed "ready" to have a child. Just sharing some thoughts. :)

With Upwork, it's can be down to luck sometimes. What kind of jobs are you looking for? I've used Elance and Upwork and have gotten translation and writing projects with both. Perhaps you can also try the usual jobsites like indeed.com.sg and see if they have any home based jobs?
