Hi all. Just gave birth a couple of days ago! Had #advicepls a 2nd degree tear but everything else is okay. However, my piles got worse after giving birth. I can't sit, stand or lie down without pain! Anyone exp it too and what did you do?

Oh congratulations on your new baby! The combination of a second degree tear and haemorrhoids at the same time is really tough, I won't sugarcoat it, the first two weeks can feel quite miserable, but most mums do turn the corner fairly quickly once the swelling starts to go down. For the haemorrhoids, a few things that seem to help are a sitz bath (even just a basin of warm water, 10-15 minutes a few times a day), keeping stools soft with lots of water and fibre so you are not straining, and asking your doctor for a topical cream, don't just use any over-the-counter one without checking it is safe postpartum. My friend who delivered at KKH said the ward nurses there were very upfront about haemorrhoid management after birth, so do ask the nurses or your gynae before you go home if you haven't already, since they can prescribe something stronger if needed. For the tear itself, the recovery can honestly vary a lot, some mums say it healed faster than expected, while others found the first week really painful especially sitting down, so a donut cushion or just a folded towel to take pressure off can make a real difference. That said, since you are dealing with both issues together and the pain sounds quite significant, it is really worth going back to see your gynae or a colorectal specialist rather than just waiting it out, so they can check both are healing properly and give you the right treatment.

My baby is having red rashes on cheeks and head. Red and pops out with white dots. Is this OK?

It could be heat rash/milk rash or the pre stage rashes for newborn baby. You can use damp cloth to clean her face each time after BM and pat dry after that. It will go away after awhile. Unless baby feel discomfort and itchy/dry/blisters then you may consult dr. I will use either Kodomo Powder Lotion or Cetaphil Lotion after each bathing period or when skin gets dry/too red.

If you don’t intend to latch, anytime from birth. Most mummies would on hold bottle feed when they wanna latch incase of bottle confusion. 😊

You can start pumping by first week after birth or as soon as your milk production is a lot. It depends on individual. For me, I only start pumping a week after I direct latch both of my kids and after I did my PP Massage. Reason being is to ask my makcik urut to help ease my engorged boobs, help to clear my milk duct, better stimulate milk production. And as for bottle feed, I will give anytime when they feel hungry, if they dont feel full even with BM/EBM. I will give once or twice a day. Then, as soon as I am going to work or baby's in IFC I will FM atleast 80% and at night will be BM/EBM.
