My 6 month old baby is attached to my breasts for feedings, how do I get my baby to accept a bottle?

Here are some tips to help your breastfed baby take a bottle: - Have someone else give the bottle. - Take your baby to a quiet and non-distracting location. A calm environment can have a big impact on a baby's mind. - Try and give your baby a bottle when he/she is starving so the baby doesn't have the time to think about refusing. - Move around while feeding the baby. - Try different bottles or a pacifier. - Tickle the baby's mouth to encourage an open mouth then bring baby up onto the bottle nipple, aiming the nipple toward the palate."

How often should I burp my baby during feedings?

After your baby finishes on one side, try burping before switching breasts. Sometimes, the movement alone can be enough to cause a baby to burp. Burp your baby every 2 to 3 ounces (60 to 90 millilitres) when you start bottle-feeding. Some infants need more burping, others less, and it can vary from feeding to feeding. If your baby spits up a lot, try burping more often.

How do I count the time between feedings and how long should I feed for?

Newborns may nurse for up to 20 minutes or longer on one or both breasts. As babies get older and more skilled at breastfeeding, they may take about 5–10 minutes on each side. Count the length of time between feedings from the time your baby begins to nurse (rather than at the end) to when your little one starts nursing again. In other words, when your doctor asks how often your baby is feeding, you can say ""about every 2 hours"" if your first feeding started at 6 a.m., the next feeding was around 8 a.m., then 10 a.m., and so on.

How often should I breastfeed my newborn?

Newborn babies should breastfeed 8–12 times per day for about the first month. Breast milk is easily digested, so newborns are hungry often. Frequent feedings help stimulate your milk production during the first few weeks. By the time your baby is 1–2 months old, he or she probably will nurse 7–9 times a day. In the first few weeks of life, breastfeeding should be ""on demand"" (when your baby is hungry), which is about every 1-1/2 to 3 hours. As newborns get older, they'll nurse less often, and may have a more predictable schedule. Some might feed every 90 minutes, whereas others might go 2–3 hours between feedings. Newborns should not go more than about 4 hours without feeding, even overnight.

How do i know if my baby is colic? And what to do if I spot signs of colic baby?

Cause: The cause of colic is unknown but suggestions include indigestion, allergies or trapped wind. During a colic spell, a baby: - has high-pitched crying or screaming - is very hard to soothe - can have a red face or pale skin around the mouth - may pull in the legs, stiffen the arms, arch the back, or clench fists Treatment: There is no cure for colic but various techniques may offer some comfort: Assess the infant’s general health, crying, stools, feeding, and any suspected foods or milk that lessen or worsen crying. Ways to soothe your baby: - Consider a warm bath or tummy massage for the baby. - Take offers of support to have a break. - If necessary, make sure the infant is safe, warm, dry and fed and leave the room for ten minutes if the parent needs a break. - White noise such as washing machines may help to soothe the infant. - A pram or car journey may help as well as walking with the infant in a sling or cuddling the infant. Stress is a phase that will pass usually at 3-4 months.
