Yesterday, my 4 year old got her measles booster vaccine infront of our house from healthcare workers who conducted a community immunization as part of the government's efforts to avert possible measles outbreaks in the country.
As per doh.gov.ph, Measles is a fatal disease with complications that can include severe diarrhoea and dehydration, pneumonia, ear and eye complications, encephalitis or swelling of the brain, or permanent disability. There is no specific treatment for measles. The only reliable protection from measles is vaccination.
