it's not compulsory..you can refuse if you want but it's better to go and check coz this can determine if you wife has a diabetes in pregnancy. it will also help as a guideline if lets say she's is diagnose with gestational diabetes she will can either control it via diet or medication . and it can prevent from ur baby to be macrosomia or neonatal hypoglycaemia. discuss this more with your obstetrician
I feel its good to take the glucose test, and especially if there is a history of diabetes in the immediate family or so. I did mine at wk 20 at a pte hosp. Same ting, fasted for 12hours, did the test, 1h n 2h post. Thereafter i was immediately referred from my gynae to specialist.. surprisingly after the drink i also got no hunger...
Yes just complete the test. After fasting, can still take small sips of water. Otherwise if u think the fasting hours are too long, can drink a glass of milk before the start of your fasting... after taking the ist blood test, just sit ard and finish the glucose drink. Should be fine...
It didn’t go well for me as well, vomited and unwell. Reschedule for 2nd time and manage to survive. Pls do not travel right after the taking the glucose . Adv to just sit and take rest there and then. I got diagnose with gdm’ and been on diet until delivery. All went well.
Yes, I did for both of my pregnancy. Guess it's best to take though. Also felt super unwell after drinking and had nauseous and giddy feel. Managed to survive though. Nurse informed that if I throw out after drinking, I'll have to go back another day for the test.
Yes it’s better to take, after the sugary drink which they give after the first blood test. Your wife will get some energy. After that you can sip some water also.
Yes. Had my glucose test during 2nd trim. I know must retake if fail for 1st time
