Try to only introduce grains to baby after 1 years. I know it's not the usual Chinese custom, but grains is not great for baby. In order to digest grains, your body needs to make use of an enzyme called amylase. Amylase is the enzyme responsible for splitting starches. And, babies don’t make amylase in large enough quantities to digest grains until after they are a year old at the earliest. Sometimes it can take up to two years.
I use new harvest rice called 新米 which is good for cooking porridge as it becomes softer faster. Some people likes brown rice but PD says don't have to give brown rice . Brown rice can be hard to digest for some babies and cause bloatedness
Try whole grain baby cereals like oatmeal, barley, or brown rice cereal, which are also fortified with iron. Just start with single-grain cereals so that you know the culprit if your baby has an allergic reaction. Happy weaning!
hi momma! I personally began with rice since it’s gentle on the tummy, then slowly introduced oats for variety. The key for me was introducing one grain at a time and watching for any reactions.
Have you tried iron-fortified rice cereal or oats? I feel these 2 are good to start with
