I think it partially depends on the baby too. All my 3 babies were able to sleep through the night from the day they were born and #1 and #2 last all the way into their toddler years as I also do cluster-feeding from 6pm onwards. Cluster-feeding is feeding in close cluster of very short interval. For me, I do cluster-feed from 6pm to 10pm with 1hr interval betwen feeds regardless of demand. I find this method works well for my kids. For my #3, I was unable to do so due to need to care for the 2 older kids so she stopped sleeping through the night at about 3rd month. However the problem goes away when she starts on solids at 6th month as she gets dinner as well as her usual milkfeed.

Healthy babies are able to sleep through the night without feeding as soon as they turn 6 months. However, this sleeping time differs from age-to-age. Here's how: - A newborn can start sleeping without feed for 3 hours in the night. This is because they need to refuel after a couple of hours. - A baby aged between 3 and 4 months, can sleep for a stretch of five to six hours. - A 4-month-old baby can sleep for upto six or even seven hours without feeding through the night. - A 5-6 month old baby can easily sleep through the night.

Generally experts believe that if your child is over 3 months old and weighing over 6kg then he or she can be expected to sleep through the night. I would like to add that it's important to make sure your child has a good routine and he/she is well fed throughout the day as well.

My baby used to sleep through the night from her 8th month. As soon as I started solids and she got adjusted to the food, she had a fuller stomach and she would sleep peacefully uninterrupted.

My LO developed her own little routine by nursing for 1-2hours before going into hibernation mode (6-7hours). You could do cluster feeding for about 4 hours before bedtime. That might help!
