I often refer to some of these websites for meals that can be prepared in advance and then freeze/refrigerate for reheating. http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/recipe-collections-favorites/quick-easy/make-ahead-recipes http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/recipe-collections-favorites/quick-easy/make-ahead-meals-0 http://www.cookinglight.com/food/recipe-finder/make-ahead-dinners You can spend one day fixing up a few of these dishes and freeze them. Most of them can be kept up to three months (though I've never kept any for so long). Simply reheat them after you get home from work for you and your family to enjoy.
normally at night i will cook the soup in the slow cooker. so at least the next day dinner there is a soup. and most prep done at night so once reach home. wash hand. cook vegetable, and meat while rice cooker is on to cook rice.. stir fried vegetables and meat is done, i will go shower. by the time i am done. soup, vege, meat and rice are ready!
Invest in one of those all in one cookers or an acti fryer. That way, you can come home, throw in the prepared ingredients and just let the machine do its magic. Alternatively, you can prepare things like casseroles or lasagna in advance and keep them in the fridge. When you get home, just place them in the oven to cook and you're all set :)
Try out one-pot meals. http://www.marthastewart.com/275672/one-dish-dinners Or you could make tomato rice. Slice a tomato into quarters and place it into the rice cooker together with the uncooked rice. Throw in some more vegetables and a protein (chicken/fish/pork/mutton) and let the rice cooker do its magic.
You can purchase a pressure cooker like philips brand to save the cooking time. Normally I need 2 hours to boil my soup but using the pressure cooker it just needs 20minutes to get everything ready. Also, there are other functions e.g. bake, stir fry etc. which you can have more variety in dishes.
Can try meal prepping. I make pasta sauce in a batch during the weekends when I’m more free and freeze them in portions for 1-2 pax. Then when I’m busy I just thaw them the night before. When I get home, just need to boil pasta for 9 mins, heat up the sauce and can have a healthy pasta meal.

I would do a salad with a bit of dressing and chicken. (I have and air fryer so while the chicken cooks I shower the kids and myself)
