Yes you can conceive before ovulation actually happens. But this depends on when you have sex. If you have sex a day or 2 before ovulation, then there is a chance you might get pregnant because sperm survives within your body for up to 72 hours. I've also heard that if fertilisation happens on the day you ovulate, then chances are you'll have a boy. But not too sure how true this is.
