Should I really wait til I'm 12 weeks before announcing my pregnancy?

I didn't get to wait until 12 weeks to tell everyone because I only found out I was pregnant when I was about 15 weeks pregnant... lol But the reason why it's such a "pantang" to tell everyone before your 1st trismester is up because the chances of miscarriage is higher. By the time you enter 2nd trismeter, you're considered more "stable". If I had my way, I'd tell my closest family members and friends (especially at least 1 or 2 colleagues) so that they can at least look out for me and "cover me" whenever I need them to. Once I'm in 2nd trismester, then I'll announce it maybe via Facebook.
