I gave birth at KKH just last November & was on the subsidised route all the way. I chose ware B2 but was upgraded to B1. I’d say my experience was all smooth from my first check up till I gave birth. The doctors and nurses were all kind. During check ups it was with different doctors each visit. For some it might not be to their liking. But I’m ok with it and I have to the opportunity to get different opinions. Normally the nurses will be helping you during labour while the doctor on duty will pop by once in awhile to check. But I’m lucky that a doctor was the one who help me during delivery. It just happened that I suddenly dilated to 9cm when she was checking on me. I guess it’s up to your expectations and how flexible you are. Plus if you have any preferred gynae. Hope the above helps!

I think it depends on your preference of Gynae, and also location. I chose one nearer to home (NUH) for convenience. I went the subsidised route first and then switch to private in 3rd trimester. Good experience then. Nurses were very kind and helpful, and my preferred Gynae was the one who attended to the birth of my baby. Since I’m also seeing another doctor at NUH for my heart condition, best to have all records under the same hospital. Even till today, my baby sees her PD at NUHKids too.

It's up to your convenience actually. I've given birth in both KKH (3 babies and last was 13 yrs ago) & NUH (2 babies here, gave birth on Feb) and so far my experiences in both hospital has been splendid! I chose KKH last time as a FTM & didn't know that NUH also do birth delivery and found that it's too far from home so I chose NUH since it's nearer (not that near but better distance).

choose the one near you convenient is the key
