Shortly after birth, our babies should receive the first two vaccines to help protect them against diseases. These are Hepatitis B vaccine within first 12 hours after birth and BCG, eventually. I can still remember how scared I was during Mara’s first two vaccines. Ganun naman talaga kapag first-time mom diba? But eventually, you get used to it, knowing we strengthened our babies’ immunity thru vaccines.
The first 1,000 days of life offer us, parents, a chance to cradle our babies on the right track. Immunization plays a vital role. Through immunization, vaccines help develop our babies’ natural defenses to fight vaccine-preventable diseases. Not only to protect our kids, but also to protect the community by preventing the spread of diseases.
