18m onwards Playgroup

It depends on each parents’ current situation. Do you work? Do you have the time and patience to teach your child? Do you have a circle whereby your child can socialise with other kids? These are just some of the considerations that you have to think of. In my case, both my husband and I work and although we have a helper, I wanted me girl to pick up skills that we can’t teach her at home.

If you can devote your time to ensure your child is learning and playing well at home, you can keep them at home and bring them out just to have social interactions with their peers. But if you are busy to give your attention, can consider putting in playgroup so that they can pick up some skills. Otherwise, your child will probably be bored at home too if there isn’t much learning at 18mths.

Apart from those art & crafts that they gladly do in school and social skills (I do it thru daily outing to playgrounds/garden with my son), I find that its more efficient if you can homeschool until N1 at least. But doing that requires a lot of your time. I just sent mine to N1 (almost 3 in a mth plus) so he can be independent without family ard. I am constantly thinking if its essential too!

I think it’s dependent on individual if it’s an essential or not. For me, it is because I’m working full time. Placing my child in playground not only ensures me that he’s learning but he is also interacting with peers his age. He gets to mingle with other children and picks up things fast.

It really depends individually , but yes I put mine in playgroup at 18 months old . Now he is 22 months old and he enjoys being in school and interacting with his friends and teacher .
