Hi parents, please share when did ur LO started TV time and what's the duration like? My LO is going 8 months. We started introducing TV time as early as 4/5 months... I'm not sure if it's appropriate? TIA!

While it is recommended not to have any screen time (be it TV, tablets or mobile phones) until they're 2 years old, realistically, it's very hard to do so - especially with family members who do not understand. My parents introduced screen time on mobile phones to my son when he was 3-4 months old, I was at school so I didn't know about it till much later. In the end, my son got used to it and would whine without it so my parents gave in to stop him from crying. I would try to stop them time and again, but well, nobody listens. He recently got sick (about 2 years old) and ended up watching YouTube for HOURS. He had a fever but wanted to watch his show so he wouldn't sleep, and nothing we could do to stop him - that was when the problem is just getting too serious and I blew my top. After that, I hid the phone away (yes, it was so ridiculous that my parents even prepared a spare phone just so my son could watch YouTube) and engaged in more active play as I can - took some time off from work as well to correct it. He's 27 months old now, it took a lot of patience and persistence but he's no longer looking for mobile phones - of course, we also don't use our phones around him either!
