It will help in preventing mga hyrdocephalus, neural tube defects etc. So before pregnancy, dapat nakapag-take ka na ng folic acid kasi brain development starts early, even before we know that we are pregnant. Sometimes nalalaman lang natin na pregnant tayo, 8 weeks na, 2 months na si baby, and nagstart na brain development niya.
