My Pri 1 daughter just uttered her first profanity, the F-word! I am at a loss on what to tell her. Should I scold her?

I remember uttering a profanity (which I didn't know was a profanity) when I was 6. I remembered it so well because I was slapped for it. Thinking back, it is still an unpleasant memory. So I suggest going chill on your daughter and explaining to her what the F word means and why it is unacceptable to speak in foul language. Usually they learn profanities among peers thinking it's funny and cool.

She probably just picked it up from people around her. Instead of scolding her, firmly tell her that words like these are not nice to be uttered. Scolding without any explanation will just instill fear.

You shouldn't scold her. To ably you can talk to her about it and explain it to her that it isn't the right thing

Hi Mummy, keep calm and explaining to her why the use of the word is bad would work better than scolding.

thanks
