Hi Deepthi, As confusing as it is to understand, it is quite normal for newborn to 'appear' cross-eyed. Like Reine mentioned above, one reason are the extra folds of skin around the eyelids. Then there's also something called pseudoesotropia in babies, which is actually an optical illusion caused by their flat nose bridge. Usually a baby's nose nose is way more flatter than an adults. This too, corrects itself as they grow. If you notice that your baby's eyes are drifting or wandering independently to each other after six months, talk to your pediatrician.

Newborn eyes are commonly crossed or at least appear that way because some babies are born with extra folds of skin in the inner corners of their eyes. As babies grow, the folds disappear - as does the cross-eyed look. Babies' eyes don't always move in perfect unison and that's perfectly normal and common. They are just uncoordinated. There is nothing to worry about (unless the eyes never seem to align) and will generally right itself by the time baby reaches the three month milestone.

It is quite normal for newborn babies to appear cross-eyed. Their eyes can wander and cross till they are four months old -- all part of the process of them learning how to use their eyes together. However, if your baby's eyes are still appearing cross-eyed after the age of four months, you should speak to your doctor.

I had the same concern when my daughter was a newborn! It's nothing to worry about, but if you want to be proactive about it, show your baby objects above her head that he can follow with his eyes. We put our newborn in her activity gym when she was a month or two old I think and she loved it!

Quite normal. Wait till 6 months to decide if something is wrong. Mention it to your doc at next routine pd check up

My baby looked the same when she was newly born. I think it's common to babies because their vision hasnt focus yet.
