Hi mummies, for private may i know roughly when we need to book a ward?

I was told even if I booked A ward it is subjected to availability on the day of delivery. I did not book and on the day I delivered my baby there wasn’t any A ward initially but later on while I was still in delivery suite, there was an available ward and I managed to get one.
