Is nursing pillow a necessity?

Hello Mummies. I'm a first time mum and I'm wondering if nursing pillow a necessity. I need your opinion I don't know if I should buy it.

I never use any for 4 of my pregnancies. With my 5th I had terrible backache so I bought one but find it useless. Not a necessity. Takes up space too if you buy the huge one.
