PLSVC persistent left superior vena cava

Hi Mummies, I’m currently week 20 and detailed scan picked up PLSVC on baby. NIPT shows low risks, baby’s heart was normal too. But doctor suggested to do amniocentesis which I did and currently need to wait 2-3 weeks for the result. Any mummies has similar experience to share?

Hang in there, the waiting period is really the hardest part! From what I've heard, isolated PLSVC (where baby's heart and chromosomes are otherwise normal, like in your case) tends to have a much more reassuring outlook than when it comes together with other findings, the concern goes up mainly when there are additional heart defects like a ventricular septal defect or coarctation of the aorta alongside it. My friend went through something similar here in Singapore and was advised to do a fetal echocardiogram on top of the amnio, which gave a much clearer picture of whether the heart structure was truly normal, so it's worth asking your doctor specifically about that if it hasn't been scheduled yet. The way I see it, you've already done the right things, NIPT low risk, heart looks normal, amnio in progress, so the pieces are actually pointing in a reasonable direction, though it makes sense to wait for the full picture before drawing conclusions. Do check all of this through with your own doctor or a fetal medicine specialist who can look at your specific scan findings, since every case really does differ.
