Swimming in public pool allowed during pregnancy due to concerns over chlorine
Hi all mummies, I was just wondering if is safe for pregnant mummies to enter public pools as my husband worries about chlorine level and water quality in the pool during peak hours.

Hi! Your husband's concern is very understandable, but from what I have heard, the chlorine in public pools is actually there to protect you, it kills off harmful bacteria and viruses in the water, so treated pool water is generally considered safer than untreated water. My neighbour swam regularly at the ActiveSG pools through her second trimester and said she felt fine, though she did avoid peak hours just to sidestep the crowds and heavier chemical smell. Some mums feel completely comfortable throughout their pregnancy, while a small number mentioned mild skin sensitivity, so it really can vary from person to person. That said, since every pregnancy is different, it is definitely worth checking with your gynae or doctor before you dive in, they can give you the most accurate advice based on your own condition.
