At 10 months, I gave my girl plain mantou (the plain white steamed buns) torn into small soft pieces and she took to it really well, good for building that chewing reflex without being too hard on her gums. For bread, I used to offer Gardenia plain white bread with the crust removed, just make sure to pinch it into small bits so it is not too doughy and sticky in her mouth lah. I would avoid anything with added sugar or fillings at this stage, so skip the red bean or lotus paste buns for now. My paed also mentioned to watch out for choking so always stay close when she is chewing.
