Hi, it'll only be a transvaginal scan if it's really early. My first appointment was that because they couldn't see the foetus on the abdominal ultrasound (also since I went for a check during my 5th week). But if you're slightly down your pregnancy, probably at 7-8 weeks, you'd be able to just get by with an abdominal scan. Scans are done by the ultrasound techs at the AMC and not the clinics, and my experience so far has been all with female techs. Btw, I'm also under kkh subsidized ☺️
Kkh subsidized first appt wont be transvaginal, it will be abdomen. And its the nurse(female) that will do the scan. First appt i remmeber after register, your and husb take blood test for thalassemia at clinic C. Then need to go outside of clinic C theres another clinic for scans. That ones nurses do, abdomen. Then go back to clinic C for gynae consultation. Thruout pregnancy ive never gotten any male gynae or male nurse. Like 99.9% female.
only gynaes can do the transvaginal scan. There will also be a nurse standing by to prep you beforehand so if it's a male dr you don't need to worry since there's a nurse with you as well. They're just doing their job so don't think too much
I did transvaginal scan but at private before. Male doctor. But be rest assured they are v professional with what they do! Dont be overly conscious and dont worry abt it!
There will be a female chaperone, usually the clinic assistant, beside regardless if a male or female gynae doing the transvaginal scan for you. Not to worry!
