Weaning off Pacifier

Hi mummies, my baby is 17months old and he’s in Infant Care. Recently, the teachers shared that they have already started to wean him off during all nap time in school and he’s able to sleep without pacifier. Today, i’ve tried to sleep him off without his pacifier at night but he cried so loudly and i gave in. I also tried to give him extra pacifier with small holes that i cut and he doesn’t like it which make him cry even louder. Can all of you share with me some tips or experiences with your LO? TIA! 🫶🏼

Hi mum, I went through something similar before also and honestly at home and school can be very different one, so don’t feel bad that he cried and you gave in. What helped for me was doing it very gradually at home, like only allow pacifier for sleep time first and slowly shorten the time, instead of sudden stop. Maybe also try other comfort things like cuddling, patting, or a soft toy so he has something to replace the pacifier.
