A few of us start with a decent diaper bag, nursing pillow if you're planning to breastfeed, and bottles/steriliser just in case, plus a stroller, those are your big-ticket items yang worth investing in. For baby fairs, check out the ones at 1 Utama or Mid Valley (Selangor area usually punya good ones), where you can grab deals on strollers and furniture; I'd also suggest browsing Babies R Us or Early Learning Centre to get a sense of prices before committing. One thing I wish I'd done more carefully is not overbuy clothes, babies grow SO fast, so maybe focus on newborn essentials first and stock up on 0-3m stuff slowly.
