White patches on baby skin, 3 month old.
Hi mommies, Good Morning. my LO has these white patches in her body in the chest and thighs, I took her to the GP and they prescribed an anti fungal cream and to see if it improves in 2 weeks if not they will refer to a dermatologist. Any of you has had similar experience? Is it something to worry?

Good morning! The white patches could be a mild fungal infection, which is actually quite common in young babies, so try not to worry too much, your GP is already on the right track with the antifungal cream. From what I've generally heard, some doctors also consider an oral antifungal like miconazole or nystatin suspension alongside the cream if the topical alone doesn't seem to be doing enough, so it's worth asking about that at your follow-up if there's no improvement. A mum friend of mine mentioned her baby had something similar and it did clear up with consistent cream use, but it took a little longer than two weeks, so patience helps. That said, since every baby's skin is different and there are a few other causes of white patches beyond fungal, like eczema or even vitiligo, it really is worth going back to your GP at the two-week mark or pushing for that dermatologist referral if you're not seeing progress, just to be sure.
