Hearing Test

Why do newborns need hearing screening? The hearing screening is a first and important step in helping understand if your baby may be deaf or hard of hearing. Without newborn hearing screening, it is hard to know when there are hearing changes in the first months and years of your baby's life. Babies may respond to noise by startling or turning their heads toward the sound, for example. But this doesn't necessarily mean they can hear all the sounds around them and everything we say. Babies who are deaf or hard of hearing may hear some sounds but still not hear enough to understand spoken language. Infants who are deaf or hard of hearing need the right supports, care, and early intervention services to promote healthy development. If the hearing status is not identified, it may have negative effects on the baby's communication and language skills. Longer term, a missed hearing loss can also impact the child's academic achievement and social-emotional development.

yes! kung CS ka better after 1 month mo na ipagawa ... ung amin kasi 2days after ng delivery nagtest agad then both ears nagfail daw so pinabaabalik kami after 1 week to 1 month para ulitin ... as new parents malaking stress inabot naming magasawa dahil sa failed test na un ... imgaine minsan sinasadya nmin gulatin c baby, pumalakpak once in a while, or ilakas bigla volume ng tv just to check if may maririnig ... eventually and thank god nagokey nmn both ears SUCCESS naman after 1 month ...

ako d ko na pinagawa kasi nun sa hosptal n pinanganakn ko wala silang ganon ni refer pa ako sa ibng hosp. nun nakauwi na kmi sa bahay sobrang magugulatin sya kaya d ko na pina test now mag 4 months n sya sa 14 ok nmn nagrerespond nmn sya pag tinatawag nmin sya at alm n nya name nya.. :)

May mga hospital na kasama sa new born screening ang hearing. For me important yun para malaman kung deaf si baby para magawan ng paraan or macheck if macucure or kailangan ng hearing aid

Yes po para kung may problema maagapan baby ko konting tunog lang nagugulat na dko na sana pa hearing test kaso kasama sa newborn screening yun at kasama na sa bayad sa ospital

Yes mommy. Sa 2 baby ko ni required po talaga nang pedia kasama na daw po siya ngayon kasabay ng newborn screening.
