Mastitis Inquiry

Hi mga mamshie! Ask ko lang po, I was diagnose with mastitis yesterday by my OB pokasi since sobrang maga ng left breast ko and namumula at the same time nilagnat din ako ng 2 days na. Pansin ko lang, simula nung namaga yung left breast ko, humina supply ng right breast ko, hindi tuloy sapat kay LO ang milk na napproduce ko kaya napilitan ako mag mixed ng formula para masbusog si LO. Lalakas pa po kaya ang supply ng milk ko for both breast? As much as possible po kasi gusto ko bfeed si LO ko since mag 3 months pa lang sya. Thank you po and Godbless mga mashie! 💕

Aw mama, mastitis talaga yan sobrang challenging lalo na fresh pa lang si LO mo at gusto mo pa lang mag-establish ng supply! Honestly a few of us din nag-experience nun at the key talaga is to keep draining both breasts, kahit medyo painful, frequent latching or pumping really helps, plus warm compress bago feed para mas flow ng milk, at make sure LO's latch is correct kasi yan usually cause ng mastitis. Pero since freshly diagnosed ka pa lang, definitely check back with your OB agad para sure na tama ang treatment mo (antibiotics if needed talaga) at para ma-guide ka properly, because mastitis can affect supply if hindi ma-treat well. The good news is maraming moms na nag-recover from this at nag-continue ang breastfeeding, so hindi lost cause yan, pero kailangan mo ng proper guidance from your doctor to make sure! Sending you strength mama, yan talaga yung mahirap na part ng early breastfeeding journey pero kayang-kaya mo yan.
