Maternity Insurance Necessary?

Is maternity insurance really necessary? Or can just purchase insurance for baby after delivery instead? I'll be opting for elective csect for my delivery.

I didn't get the maternity insurance because the coverage is more for rare illnesses and the payment is quite high.
